Saudi Power Procurement Company Announces 4 New Projects with a Total Capacity of 7,200 Megawatts
The Saudi Power Procurement Company, on Tuesday, announced the launch of four competitive projects for electricity generation under the Independent Power Production system, with a total capacity of 7,200 megawatts.
Projects Distributed Across Central and Eastern Regions
These projects are distributed over two stations, Rumah 1 and Rumah 2 in the central region, and two stations, Nairiyah 1 and Nairiyah 2 in the eastern region. Each station has a production capacity of 1,800 megawatts. All these stations will operate using combined cycle technology with natural gas and are prepared for the construction of carbon capture units.
Aligning with the Saudi Green Initiative
The Saudi Power Procurement Company (the main buyer) stated that these projects are in line with the "Saudi Green Initiative" and the Kingdom's ambition to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions through the circular carbon economy approach by 2060 or earlier, subject to the maturity and availability of the required technologies.
Extending the Ministry of Energy's Efforts
These projects are an extension of the Ministry of Energy's efforts to achieve the targets of "Vision 2030". This includes contributing to increasing the efficiency of electricity generation, reducing costs through diversifying energy production sources, displacing liquid fuel, and achieving an optimal energy mix for electricity production from renewable energy and gas, with a 50% share for each.
Don't Miss This Opportunity
If you are interested, don't let this opportunity pass you by. This project is highly attractive for financing and investment companies, especially if the companies have proven expertise, a track record of successes, a sound financial system for the project, and good management for the consortium.
