Karim Bux
Mr. Karim Bux is a Chartered Accountant with more than 15 years of experience as a business finance partner, inspiring leadership and delivering project finance, with expertise in FP&A, reporting & controlling. His professional passion has always been achieving financial proficiency, with interests in supporting businesses and starting up & carrying out projects. He is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan, holds a Master’s degree from the Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL), Karachi, Pakistan and is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, United Kingdom.
For almost a decade, Karim Bux has handled project finance, commercial finance, billing, legal & investments at a listed Port Terminal in Karachi, named Pakistan International Bulk Terminal Limited, a World Bank Project of USD 300 million. He has been pivotal in arranging financial close of the project, owning the financial model and project structure and assessing financial and operational feasibilities. During the operational phase of the Company, he introduced automation strategies which increased revenue by 25% and improved efficiency by 50%, lead the implementation of the ERP Oracle through various cross functional teams, and arranged the project insurances throughout his term. For his contributions to the Company's objectives, he received five promotions in nine years, and is currently working as Head of Finance and Company Secretary.
Prior to working in PIBT, a World Bank project in Karachi, Karim Bux has worked in Ernst & Young (EY) in Karachi and Dubai offices, in the Audit & Assurance department. EY was a learning hub, both professionally and personally where his mentors included past President ICAP, and many esteemed colleagues for performing audit of prominent Oil & Gas, Shipping & Logistics, Public sector, Engineering, Automobile and Consumer Food Companies.
He has also completed his MBA specializing in bi-majors, Fintech & Digital Marketing, providing a strong foundation in financial innovation and digital transformation, and igniting the passion of harnessing the power of AI to drive innovation and solve complex problems. Key projects during MBA included developing of a Fintech product along with devising operational, commercial and financial feasibilities for the same, research on implications of Blockchain in health care industry and a comprehensive brand audit of a leading cement player in Pakistan with focus on digital marketing strategies.
Personally, he is passionate about nurturing society through volunteering with many organizations for provision of food, education, clean water and environment preservation. He takes unwinding breaks travelling to the wilderness and the metropolis.
